• Allies are more likely to revive you when you are knocked out.
• They position themselves more intelligently, staying out of avoidable AoE damage.
• They use their support skills (buffs, debuffs) more frequently.
• Special combination attacks and character story arcs unlock.
How to Raise Affinity Efficiently
There are several ways to raise affinity, and you should use all of them together:
• Party with them constantly. The biggest affinity gains come from fighting alongside someone. Every Switch chain you perform together, every battle you win together, every time you survive a tough fight with them in the party builds affinity. Keep your preferred party together whenever possible rather than swapping members constantly.
• Make correct dialogue choices. When talking to NPCs in town or during story scenes, pay attention to their personalities. You do not need a guide -- just respond like you would to a friend. Asuna values kindness and cooperation. Sinon appreciates calm pragmatism. Lisbeth respects honesty and craftsmanship. Silica responds to encouragement and warmth.
• Give gifts. You can give items to NPCs when you talk to them in town. While any gift gives some affinity, giving them items they like gives more.
