Master Dual Blades in SAO: Hollow Realization's endgame. Skills, stats, SSC chains, consumable loadout, and how to play the highest-DPS weapon without dying constantly.

Dual Blades in the Endgame Dual Blades are the highest theoretical DPS weapon in Hollow Realization, and in endgame content with a properly optimized build and player who knows how to use them, they live up to that reputation. Multi-hit skills like Starburst Stream can eviscerate boss HP bars during Switch chains. But Dual Blades have a critical weakness: they offer essentially no defensive options. You cannot block with a shield, your dodge windows are your primary defense, and if you mistime a dodge or get caught in a boss combo, you will take massive damage. This guide covers how to build and play Dual Blades effectively for endgame and post-game content. Dual Blades in the endgame is not for the faint of heart -- it requires sharp reflexes, good pattern recognition, and disciplined SP management.

Stat and Skill Allocation For endgame Dual Blades: • DEX is your primary stat -- Dual Blade skills scale well with DEX, which boosts critical hit rate and accuracy. Crit is where Dual Blades get much of their damage, since multi-hit skills give many opportunities for crits to proc. • AGI for survival and speed -- AGI improves your dodge i-frames, attack speed slightly, and evasion. Since you cannot rely on blocking, dodging is everything. • VIT -- enough to survive -- You do not need to be a tank, but you need enough HP and defense to survive at least one solid hit from an endgame boss. The exact amount varies by player skill, but going full zero-VIT glass cannon is a trap for most players. • SP recovery passives -- Invest in passives that improve SP regeneration or reduce SP costs. Dual Blades burn SP faster than any other weapon.

Player Tip: Dual Blades reward aggression, but calculated aggression. You cannot mash buttons mindlessly. You must identify openings, commit to a full SSC chain during that opening, then disengage and recover SP while dodging the enemy's counterattack. It is a high-tempo, high-risk dance.

Key Dual Blade Skills Your endgame skill palette should include: • Starburst Stream -- The iconic multi-hit skill. This is your heavy hitter and finisher for long SSC chains. It hits many times rapidly and deals devastating damage during Switch windows. • Fast starter skills -- Lower-cost, quick-execution skills to begin your chains and build momentum. • Transition skills -- Skills with short animations that chain smoothly between your starter and finisher, extending your combo multiplier. • Aerial/launch skills -- If an enemy gets launched (by your ally's Switch or one of your skills), you need an aerial combo skill to follow up. • One defensive/escape skill -- Even Dual Blades benefit from a skill that gives you i-frames or a quick repositioning move for emergency escapes.

Endgame Combat Rotation A typical Dual Blade engagement against a tough enemy looks like this: • Wait for your enemy to attack. Perfect Guard or dodge through it. Punishing an enemy's missed attack is your safest opening. • When the enemy staggers (from Perfect Guard, Switch, or ally attack), begin your SSC chain with a quick starter skill. • Chain into your transition skills, building the combo multiplier. • When the chain multiplier is high, unleash Starburst Stream or your strongest finisher. • If a Switch prompt appears over an ally's head DURING your chain, press Switch immediately -- the Switch follow-up maintains your combo momentum while giving you i-frames and SP. • After the opening closes (enemy recovers, you run out of SP, or the combo ends), disengage with a dodge roll. Do not stand around in melee range without SP to defend yourself. • Regenerate SP with normal attacks on weaker enemies, use an SP potion, or wait for natural regeneration while dodging the enemy's attacks until your next opening.

Critical Dual Blade Mistakes to Avoid • Starting a skill chain when the enemy is NOT staggered or recovering. You will get hit out of your animation and take heavy damage. • Tanking hits to finish a combo. If an enemy starts an attack mid-chain and you cannot Switch out, dodge-cancel immediately. • Ignoring SP management. A Dual Blade user with zero SP is a sitting duck. Always know how much SP you have and when to disengage. • Forgetting to bring SP potions. You will burn through them. Accept it and stock up.
