Endgame Builds: Optimal Stat Distribution and Gear

How to build your character for endgame content in SAO: Hollow Realization. Stat priorities, gear choices, passive selection, and build optimization for every weapon type.

Endgame Build Philosophy By the endgame, you should have a clear understanding of your preferred weapon and playstyle. Building for endgame is not about following a rigid meta -- it is about doubling down on what makes your weapon work while fixing any weaknesses in your playstyle. The 'best' build is the one that complements how you actually play, not one copied from a list without understanding. That said, there are principles that apply to all endgame builds, and weapon-specific stat priorities that you should follow to maximize your effectiveness. This guide covers both.

Core Build Priorities Regardless of weapon, these are the foundational elements of any good endgame build: • Weapon matches your playstyle -- Do not switch to Dual Blades just because they have high theoretical DPS if you are not comfortable with their glass-cannon playstyle. Play the weapon you enjoy and are good at; a well-played 1HS or Rapier build outperforms a poorly played Dual Blade build. • Max weapon enhancement -- Your weapon contributes more damage than any other single piece of gear. Maxing its enhancement level at Lisbeth's shop is the single biggest power increase you can get. • Defense is not optional -- Even glass-cannon builds need enough VIT and armor to survive at least one hit from endgame bosses. Zero-VIT builds might look good on paper, but getting one-shot means you deal zero damage while waiting to respawn. • SP management tools -- Either through passives, gear bonuses, or SP potion reliance, you need a way to sustain skill usage during long fights. • SSC-focused skill selection -- Choose sword skills that chain well together for your primary damage rotation. A set of skills that you can consistently chain into a long combo is more important than individual high-damage skills that do not connect.

Player Tip: Your endgame build should feel smooth to play. If you find yourself constantly running out of SP, missing Perfect Guards because your timing is off with a new weapon, or dying repeatedly, your build is not optimized -- even if it follows a 'meta' template. Adjust until the game feels responsive and your decisions feel impactful.

Weapon-Specific Build Focus

One-Handed Sword Balanced STR/DEX split with moderate VIT. Focus on skills that chain cleanly and provide a mix of single-target and AoE options. 1HS builds are versatile and forgiving -- use that to your advantage by equipping a variety of skills for different situations.

Dual Blades DEX primary for crit and speed, enough VIT to survive one big hit, AGI for dodging. Stack critical hit rate and critical damage wherever possible. Carry SP potions. Your game plan is: dodge or Perfect Guard everything, then unleash long SSC chains during openings.

Rapier DEX and AGI. High crit, fast multi-hits. You rely on positioning and evasion rather than tanking hits. Invest in dodge i-frame improvements if your tree offers them, and focus on thrust skills that hit weak points for bonus damage.

Two-Handed Sword STR and VIT. You trade blows with enemies, so you need to survive hits. Prioritize skills with super armor and launch/stagger properties to create Switch opportunities. 2HS builds thrive in parties where allies can follow up on your staggers.

Bow DEX primary, VIT for when enemies close distance. Focus on charged shot skills, weak point damage passives, and status arrows. Position at max range and keep an eye on approaching enemies; switch to sidearm or dodge if they close in.

Mace VIT and STR. You are the tank and stagger machine. Stack defense, HP, and stun/stagger bonuses. Your job in parties is to absorb hits and stagger enemies for your DPS allies -- build accordingly.

Dagger DEX and AGI all the way. Crit, evasion, dodge i-frames, status effects. Dagger builds are for players who want to dance around enemies untouched. If you get hit, you should feel it -- that is the tradeoff for your damage and mobility.

Spear Balanced STR/DEX with AGI for positioning. Spears offer reach and crowd control. Build for wide AoE thrusts and keep-away skills that let you control space in group fights.

Gear Enhancement Priorities When spending materials on upgrades, the order of priority is: • Main weapon -- Always upgrade your primary weapon first. Damage is king, and every enhancement level on your weapon is a significant DPS increase. • Body armor -- More damage reduction means you survive longer, which means more damage dealt over the course of a fight. • Accessories -- Look for accessories that boost your primary stat (STR or DEX) or provide useful bonuses like crit rate, SP efficiency, or status resistance. • Off-hand (if applicable) -- If your weapon type uses a shield or secondary gear piece, upgrade that after the above priorities.
