Navigate the Canyon Mine Depths dungeon in SAO: Hollow Realization. Narrow mining tunnels, golem enemies, rock traps, ore deposits, and the earth-shaking boss at the end.
Delving Into the Mines
The Canyon Mine Depths is a multi-level mining dungeon carved into the canyon rock. It features narrow tunnels, large excavated chambers, abandoned mining equipment, and rock-based enemies around every turn. The mine is also an excellent source of rare ore for blacksmithing, so even if you have already cleared it for the story, returning to farm ore can be worth your time.
Upper Mine Tunnels
The first section of the mine consists of winding tunnels with tracks and mining carts:
• Rock golems patrol the larger tunnels. They move slowly but hit very hard. Use hit-and-run tactics and let Lisbeth stagger them.
• Watch for ceiling collapse traps in certain corridors. These are usually visually telegraphed (cracks in the ceiling, falling dust). Move through quickly or avoid the trigger zone.
• Ore deposits on the walls can be mined for materials. Hit them or interact with them to collect ore.
• Reptile enemies nest in side alcoves and may ambush you as you pass. Keep your camera turning.
Player Tip: Narrow tunnels make it hard to see enemies approaching from behind. If your party members stop moving and start attacking something behind you, turn around -- something is there.
Deeper Caverns
As you descend deeper into the mine:
• Tunnels open into larger caverns with multiple paths. One path leads forward; others lead to treasure chambers or dead ends with ore.
• A miniboss encounter against an elite golem or group of lizardmen guards a key item or switch.
• Some areas have pit falls. Watch your step -- falling drops you to a lower level with more enemies, forcing you to circle back.
• There is a mid-dungeon teleport stone before the final stretch. Activate it.
Mining for Materials
This dungeon is a prime farming spot for upgrade ores:
• Every ore node you see is worth hitting. Mine them all as you explore.
• Golem enemies drop mineral materials when defeated.
• Even on repeat runs, you can accumulate a good amount of high-grade ore from this dungeon.
• If you need materials for a weapon upgrade, spend 20 minutes speed-running this dungeon for ore.
Mine Boss Strategy
The boss at the end of the mine is a massive golem or earth elemental:
• It has extremely high physical defense. Simply mashing attacks will not bring it down quickly.
• Its attacks include ground slams that create shockwaves, boulder throws, and sweeping arm strikes.
• It periodically summons smaller rock adds. Destroy these quickly -- they do not have much HP but add chip damage.
• Watch for when it raises both fists overhead -- this is a massive ground slam that covers a large radius. Get distance or Perfect Guard if you are confident.
• The boss has a stagger window after its big attacks. This is when you and your party should unload SSC chains via Switch.
• Lisbeth is your MVP here. Her mace attacks build stagger against even this heavily armored foe, creating consistent Switch openings.
Patience is key. This is not a DPS race -- it is a war of attrition. Survive its attacks, punish the openings, and clear adds when they spawn. With a proper party and some patience, the boss will fall.
