Category: Walkthrough | SAO Hollow Realization Guide

Complete walkthrough of the Forgotten Garden Ruins dungeon in SAO: Hollow Realization. Layout, enemy placements, minibosses, treasure, and boss strategy.

Entering the Garden Ruins The Forgotten Garden Ruins (or equivalent overgrown ruin dungeon in the flower field region) is one of the first mid-game dungeons that will actually test your party's coordination. It is a multi-level structure overgrown with plant life, full of narrow corridors connecting larger chambers, with plant-type enemies around every corner. Make sure you have activated the teleport stone just outside the dungeon entrance before stepping inside.

First Floor Layout The entrance floor consists of a main corridor with branching side rooms: • The entrance hall often has a few patrolling plant enemies. These are not dangerous individually but can be troublesome if you aggro multiple groups at once. • Side rooms contain treasure chests but also additional enemies. It is worth clearing them for loot and extra EXP. • Watch for vines that may try to grab or slow you as you pass. These are usually environmental hazards or hidden enemies. • There is a miniboss encounter partway through the first floor -- often a large plant creature or two elite enemies together.

Player Tip: In multi-enemy encounters, use Lisbeth's mace swings to stagger one target while you focus another down. Do not let multiple enemies attack freely. Use wide AoE skills if you get surrounded.

Second Floor and Poison Areas The second floor introduces poison hazards: • Some corridors have purple poison mist on the ground. Running through quickly minimizes damage, but having antidotes ready is still important. • Enemy density increases here. Expect plant enemies and insects in combinations. • Look for a small safe room or alcove that often contains a chest and a brief respite from combat. • There may be a switch or lever mechanic that opens the path forward. These are usually visible on walls near blocked doors. • The miniboss on this floor is often an enchanted knight or stronger plant variant.

Pre-Boss Room and Teleport Stone Before the boss chamber, there is usually a preparation area: • A teleport stone in this room. If you die to the boss, you restart here, which is a huge time-saver. • Sometimes a healing/restore point. Use it to refill HP/SP if available. • Make sure your party is healed, your gear is repaired, and you have enough potions before opening the boss door.

Garden Ruins Boss Strategy The boss is a large plant or flower-like creature. Mechanics to watch for: • Vine whip attacks -- Long-reaching horizontal swipes. Dodge backward or Perfect Guard. • Poison cloud -- The boss releases poison in an area around itself. Back away when you see it preparing this; do not be caught inside. • Spawn adds -- At certain HP thresholds, it summons smaller plant minions. Focus these down quickly or they will overwhelm you. • Root attack -- Vines shoot up from the ground in a line. Dodge sideways. Strategy: Stay to the sides of the boss rather than directly in front. Let Lisbeth hold its attention and build stagger. When it does its poison cloud, back off and wait for it to dissipate. When adds spawn, switch to AoE skills to clear them quickly before focusing back on the boss. When Lisbeth staggers it, trigger Switch to Asuna for big damage. Repeat until it falls.
