The Salty Crab
This large crustacean in the coastal region uses powerful pincers, water bubbles, and a devastating grab attack. It is a step up in complexity from the first dungeon boss.
Attack Patterns
• Single pincer strike -- One claw snaps down in front. Quick recovery; dodge or Perfect Guard.
• Double pincer sweep -- Both claws sweep outward in wide arc. Jump back or roll through between its legs.
• Bubble barrage -- Rears back, spits multiple water bubbles in spread. Dodge sideways continuously.
• Grab attack -- OPENS a claw WIDE and lunges forward slowly. CANNOT be blocked -- DODGE. Squeezes repeatedly for massive damage if caught.
• Body slam -- When you are behind, rears up and slams down with shockwave. Roll away.
Player Tip: The grab attack kills more players than anything else here. When you see the claw OPEN WIDE (different from regular strikes), do NOT block -- dodge sideways immediately.
Positioning and Strategy
• Stay near the sides/back -- most dangerous attacks hit in front.
• Dodge body slams when it rears up, then reposition after.
• If an ally gets grabbed, unload skills while the crab is stationary.
• Manage Risk; back off if it hits orange/red on low HP.
• Use Defense Up before the fight; Attack Down makes grab more survivable.
Party Recommendations
• Bring Lisbeth (Mace) for staggers and Switch setups.
• Asuna for healing is almost mandatory.
• Reach weapons (Spear/2HS) or fast weapons (Rapier/Dagger) both work.
• Bring extra HP potions for grab damage.
